In August 2019, West Aurora School District opened the Weisner Family Center for Career Development (Weisner Center). This 18,000 square foot facility is designed to provide advanced educational and work-based learning and training to high school juniors and seniors; providing students with hands-on technical training in the areas of advanced manufacturing and welding. The Weisner Center combines rigorous academics with strong technical education to equip students with the skills and credentials to succeed in whichever career path they choose.
The Weisner Center features four classroom bays for flexible programming and 18 welding booths. Programming could include HVAC, diesel repair, advanced building trades, and mechatronics. Students will receive a 10-hour safety certificate through the program and will also have access to job shadow programs and internships.
The Dunham Fund is proud to support A+ Foundation for West Aurora Schools’ Weisner Center and its efforts to provide the best opportunities for our youth to advance in the increasingly competitive job market and create a sustainable career.
