Since its establishment in 1991, Agape Connection, Inc. has sought to prepare young people in the local community to be knowledgeable and culturally aware citizens and leaders. Through its Sankofa Program, Agape provides an immersive, hands-on environment through weekly classes for students grades 1-8 to explore topics related to diversity, African and African American heritage, and community leadership.
A $50,000 grant from the Dunham Fund is proud to support Agape Connection’s 2019-2010 Sankofa School of History, Culture, and Creativity. This education program will help lay a foundation of knowledge and understanding of local children regarding African and African American culture.
The program takes place at St. John Church in Aurora and students travel around the community to expand their perspective, engage in hands-on learning, and experience cultural diversity.
The Dunham Fund is proud to support a program that fosters the education of cultures and empathy towards others.
