The Aurora University project, Creating a Better Democracy through Ethical Decision-Making, will prepare educators to integrate ethical decision-making into their existing curriculum. Teachers and faculty will provide a structure to assist students to be more reflective in their personal decision-making, hopefully resulting in decisions that have a positive impact on the greater good.
A committee of faculty, teachers, and corporate, government and non-profit leaders will design, implement and assess the program which will also incorporate a graduate course for educators preparing school district teachers who will teach the ethics curriculum to students in grades 3-8 and university faculty who will teach the curriculum to Aurora University undergraduates.
With the monetary and human resources provided by the McGowan Charitable Fund, Communities in Schools and the Dunham Fund, AU’s Institute for Collaboration will utilize the McGowan Scholars Ethics Curriculum to create and teach a two-year pilot program.
