CASA Kane County is a nonprofit organization that helps provide each child in the child welfare system with the voice of a well-trained CASA, or Court Appointed Special Advocate. CASA Kane County’s more than 220 CASA volunteers are specially trained advocates who work within the juvenile court system to help advocate for more than 600 children in our child welfare system.
Each CASA volunteer goes through a 45-hour initial training. To remain compliant with National CASA standards, each volunteer must complete 12 hours of continuous education credits annually through CASA University – a resource created to help CASAs have the most effective child advocacy information and training at their fingertips.
This three-year matching grant, totaling $51,000 from the Dunham Fund will help support CASA Kane County’s CASA University to continue enhancing the quality and specialization of its education programs to meet the needs of its volunteers, as well as support staff to coordinate the services through CASA University.$17,000 paid each year for 2019, 2020, 2021.
