For 14 years, Companeros has held its annual health festival to provide the Hispanic community and other diverse groups with the means to access resources and services for their health and well-being. In addition to offering health screenings during the annual festival, this volunteer driven coalition partners with nonprofit agencies to bring awareness about health and social services available in Aurora.
This Dunham Fund grant makes it possible to provide health screenings to all those who participate in the health festival. Screenings are a basic tool to prevent future health care problems, and are done for cholesterol, glucose, blood pressure and beyond. This brings a valuable service to community members who do not have easy access to health services or are uninsured.
