With a revised focus on immigration by the federal government, immigrant advocates strongly encourage all legal, permanent residents with a green card to apply for U.S. citizenship. However, to successfully pass the stringent test requires a thorough understanding of U.S. civics and history, along with the proven ability to read, write and speak English.
The best way to prepare for the naturalization test and interview is to attend citizenship classes that focus on those requirements. The Dunham grant will fund increased class offerings and classrooms. Classes currently run twice a week, from September through May. Since January of 2017, student attendance has more than doubled, with plans to expand with summer classes in the future.
