The Spelling Bee stands strong as one of our nation’s oldest and most iconic competitions since 1925 and, each year, thousands of Aurora area students participate in local spelling bees for the opportunity to compete at the national level. The Kane County Regional Office of Education has been a part of this historic event for the last 20 years and the Dunham Fund has helped make it extra special.
The $10,000 Dunham grant covers expenses such as student backpacks, judges, fees and trophies. It also provides the winner and their family with airfare to Washington, D.C. to compete in the National Spelling Bee, which includes a tour of the United States Capitol, an awards banquet and the chance to be crowned champion of the National Spelling Bee.
