The Dunham Fund is
supporting two programs that will enhance services provided to neighbors
with food insecurities.
- Food Rescue Vehicle: $32,000
- Harvest Dinner: $5,000
Food Rescue Vehicle / $32,000
Marie Wilkinson Food Pantry’s Food Rescue Program is operated by volunteers and provides fresh produce, dairy, deli, and meats to the community. Accounting for more than 80% of the food distributed by the Pantry, volunteers retrieve edible food from supermarkets, farms, restaurants, and schools that would otherwise go to waste.
Heavily reliant on transportation to travel to and from the locations for food pick-up, it is critical to have dependable, safer, and more economical transportation is required.
Support from the Dunham Fund allowed Marie Wilkinson Food Pantry to purchase a new van for this program, aiding in the rescue of more than 90,000 pounds of food this year.
Harvest Dinner / $5,000
Marie Wilkinson Community Garden Harvest Dinner introduced attendees to the abundance of produce grown for distribution at the Pantry. Guests also learned about other unique features of the garden, including the monarch butterfly station, the pollinators garden, and the chickens’ coop.
