In 2017, the Painters District Council #30’s foundation, the PATCH Foundation, launched a grant program for local community organizations, in an effort to support nonprofits in the community. The PATCH Foundation Grant is awarded to organizations requesting volunteers/materials to complete renovation projects involving painting, drywall finishing, or glazing.
Projects are completed by Painters District Council #30 apprentices, journey workers, and out-of-work union members wishing to give back to the community. These volunteer projects also enable seasoned journey workers to sharpen their skills, apprentices to perfect their skills under mentorship, and unemployed members to obtain somewhat steady income.
Support from the Dunham Fund allows the PATCH Foundation to award additional grants in the Dunham Fund service area, further supporting the nonprofit organizations that work tirelessly to positively impact our community, while supporting the work of local union crafts persons.
