This $5,000 grant will aid in the expansion of “The Light of the Heart: A Community Art Therapy Project” in Aurora Public Schools. TLOTH, in collaboration with Communities in Schools (CIS), will identify and provide art therapy for 200 students in need onsite in the public schools during the school day.
Students in need include, but are not limited to: students-at-risk for academic failure, with problems at home, with chronic truancies, with troubles relating to the world and expressing feelings, and/or with low self-esteem.
Master-level art therapists, trained in art, psychology and the therapy process will conduct individual or group art therapy with teacher- and CSI-identified students-at-risk.
