Wayside Cross Ministries

Wayside Cross Ministries is dedicated to helping the impoverished, addicted, abused, at-risk, and imprisoned as they recover and work to rebuild their lives. Wayside has a residential recovery program for men and a shelter for women and children, run programs for at-risk youth, and run workforce development programs for residents.

This grant will help Wayside Cross Ministries to renovate a home donated by First Presbyterian Church in Aurora, which they will use for Phase 5 of their program. This funding would help Wayside Cross bring the home up to code, allowing seven clients to transition into a 5th phase of the program.

This phase allows the men to ease back into society while still having the responsibility of paying rent, caring for a home, and connecting with mentors to help maintain sobriety.

This grant allowed Wayside Cross Ministries to renovate a home in Aurora to begin a Phase 5 of their rehabilitation programming.

The UYM program provides tutoring and mentoring support to Aurora-area students during the school year and summer programming. UYM will also engage other partners through this funding to broaden tutoring and programming offers for their students.

During the exhibit’s time in Aurora, there will be various film screenings, community conversations, and educational sessions that explore the exhibit and documentary’s themes and their relevance to our community today.
