Leading the Way:
The Nonprofit Leadership Certificate Program

The Dunham Foundation is proud to partner with Aurora University to bring a transformative opportunity to our local nonprofit leaders this summer. The Leading The Way: Nonprofit Leadership Certificate Program will take place on the Aurora University campus in Summer 2025 (Tuesdays from June 17 to August 19, from 3:00 to 6:00 PM), designed to strengthen the leadership capabilities of those driving positive change in our community.

Bridging the Gap Between Vision and Implementation

This multi-week workshop series addresses the unique challenges nonprofit organizations face in today’s complex landscape. Participants will develop essential management and business skills that bridge the critical gap between operational demands and strategic leadership—ultimately empowering both leaders and the communities they serve.

Building a Community of Practice

Beyond skill development, the program creates a vibrant network of mutual support among local nonprofit leaders. Participants will learn from expert facilitators while sharing insights from their diverse experiences, fostering collaboration that extends well beyond the classroom.

Practical Outcomes for Lasting Impact

By earning the Nonprofit Leadership Certificate, participants will gain:

  • A comprehensive understanding of nonprofit business operations
  • Enhanced resource management capabilities
  • Strategies for increasing organizational sustainability
  • Tools to evaluate and address their organization’s specific needs

Nomination Process

Important: Participation in this program is by nomination only. Ideal candidates for this opportunity will include individuals who are currently serving as leaders within nonprofit organizations. These emerging leaders have demonstrated significant potential and growth within the nonprofit sector, as well as seasoned corporate managers who are transitioning into nonprofit leadership roles and bringing valuable skills and experience from the private sector. To ensure a strong pool of candidates, nominations should be submitted by supervisors, board chairs, or other organizational leaders who can speak to the nominee’s qualifications, leadership potential, and commitment to the nonprofit sector.

Interested in Participating?

If you work at a nonprofit organization in the Dunham Foundation Service Area and believe this program would enhance your leadership skills, we encourage you to speak with your leadership about being nominated. Ask your executive director, supervisor, or board chair if they would consider nominating you for this valuable professional development opportunity.
