2021 Grants Accepted through October the 15th

New Grant Submission Portal

After extensive research, we’re upgrading our grantmaking software to a grant management system called GivingData. By adopting this new system, we reinforce our pledge to continuously improve how we identify, evaluate, and support transformative community projects through grantmaking. GivingData will help to streamline our grantmaking in the following ways:
  1. This innovative platform will improve communication with potential grantees and ensure a more systematic approach to tracking, reviewing, and managing grant applications.
  2. Enhanced features such as intuitive and easy-to-use grant applications and in-form commenting to communicate with Foundation staff in real-time will provide our applicants with a more transparent and user-friendly experience.
  3. Enhanced software integration allows for a more secure and efficient grant payment process, minimizing administrative delays and protecting sensitive financial information.

We look forward to introducing you to the GivingData experience in January 2025!

Reflections

2024 was an exciting year of grantmaking. We believe that investing in quality youth support systems creates strong foundations for academic and life success. The Ready for the Future RFP builds naturally on these efforts to support one-on-one tutoring and learning recovery for students attending East and West Aurora school districts.

The Dunham Foundation’s commitment to youth education has evolved through careful research and strategic partnerships. In 2022, we collaborated with the Community Foundation of the Fox River Valley on a comprehensive Community Needs Assessment across Kane and Kendall counties. This study, alongside targeted consultations with local and national experts, revealed critical gaps in youth educational support, particularly following pandemic-related learning disruptions.

Responding to these findings, we launched several initiatives:

  • Piloted a one-on-one and small group tutoring program in 2023-24
  • Joined Aurora’s Education Commission to strengthen community connections
  • Developed, launched, and funded partners in the Ready for the Future RFP

This year, 49 grants totaling $3.38M were provided to nonprofits. Through purposeful investment, we’re creating a community infrastructure that empowers children and adults, strengthens families, and propels collective advancement. Our focus encompasses three strategic areas: education, economic growth, and programs that benefit the community.
